Heat is the obvious enemy in an outdoor enclosure, so the obvious answer is more airflow. Near the ocean that airflow carries salt directly onto every circuit board inside. The design that works is filtered and baffled, drawn from the sheltered side, which costs more to build and roughly triples the life of the electronics.
Replaceable modules: less time stopped
Repairing on site means diagnosing, sourcing the part and coming back. Swapping the whole module turns that sequence into a single visit: the machine is back in service the same day and the detailed repair happens in the workshop. Across a fleet with many locations, that difference accounts for most of the downtime accumulated over a year. It is one of the questions branches ask us most often: equipment exposed to salt air.

Most enclosure failures we are called to inspect trace back to one detail: a cable entry left unsealed, a door gasket compressed unevenly, a drip edge omitted above the reader. The cabinet itself is fine. Water and salt only need one route in, and it is always a detail below the level a purchase specification usually reaches.
